Save the Hero: Ardalia's Story

I sit stuck against the wall as usual. My body is physically tired from the double I just worked, but my mind never stops. It never sleeps.
Knock! Knock! Knock!
“Ahri! I know you can hear me. Can you open the door please?”
It is Mark. I knew it would be. He is the only person that ever comes to this door. I don’t want to leave him hanging outside. He always comes out of his way to check on me.
“Ahri! I just want to know you’re all right.”
I feel the tears burning in my eyes. I want to be better. I want to be a better partner for Mark, but I can’t. As a medic, it is normal to lose sleep when you lose a patient or arrive to a scene too late. But these aren’t my problems. Mark is such a great guy. He deserves a normal partner.
It is quiet now. I wonder if he has given up. He should.
My phone’s ambulance siren begins to sound, and I know it is Mark. He hasn’t given up yet. I don’t silence the ringer. I don’t answer. I can’t. The sound of the siren tenses me, and I erect against the wall involuntarily. My mouth extends above my throat, and I take deep breaths into the air above me. Beep-beep. He left a voice mail. Poor guy. He wants to save me. He wants to fix me. I am too far gone.
Ardalia (Ahri or Daily) is your hardworking paramedic with not-so-typical paramedic problems. Although she spends most of her time saving lives, hers is the one that needs to be saved.

Plant Hope - Harvest Love

“I am going to tell you about my favorite flower and fruit. A seed has to be covered under layers and layers of dirt, in darkness, loneliness, dealing with crap, and is nearly drowned. At that stage, the seed has nothing but hope that it will eventually sprout. However, every seed does not sprout. Once the sprout has undergone sufficient growth, it can be classified as a tree. This tree has no idea whether it will blossom or not, for every tree does not. The only goal is to survive. To always be stronger than before. There are plenty of obstacles; cold winter snow, wet cold spring, hot dry summer, bitter cold of fall which leaves the tree bare. Only once this tree grows in spite of the obstacles set up against it will it be strong enough to produce blossoms. Blossoms that are easily the most beautiful ever seen. The blossoms are special as they will grow to bear fruit. Fruit that, when harvested, can sustain the lives of others. This is the ultimate form of love.”
Experience a year of life-shattering moments in Aurora’s life. A woman with nothing left to give is given hope. Hope that leads to her life’s reconstruction until she can find the strength inside of her to grow. Grow until she is strong enough to Harvest Love.

Save the Hero: Hannah's Story Save the Hero

Open your heart to Save the Hero Collection's newest everyday hero, Hannah Lopez–Sparks.
Arrington was not always the city we have become. Just over one hundred years ago, we were a rural town with very little to offer the state or the country. That was until the Morris College of Law was founded in 1902, only five months after the death of Justice of the Peace Esther Hobart–Morris. She was a woman that believed in women's equality and rights. She was a woman that fought for those beliefs her entire life. It is my honor and privilege to present the Esther Morris Woman of the Year award to a woman that works hard in legal practice to empower many residents, predominantly women, to fulfill their greatest dreams, to be financially independent, to contribute to the ever–growing greatness of our community – Arrington, Wyoming's very own Hannah Sparks.
––From the chapter titled "An Honor":
When Hannah Lopez, an attorney working as a legal aid, crosses paths with Owen Sparks, a local bar owner, love and infatuation are natural. His charm, confidence, and good looks are hard for any woman to resist. Witness the love, passion, challenges, and betrayal this once–devoted couple encounter. Witness if their love will be strong enough to withstand when the dust of their deception settles after a shy, selfless Hannah Sparks learns to be selfish.
